Sylvia received her PhD degree in Computational Biology from La Trobe University, VIC in 2013. She worked with Diagnostic Genomics team in NICTA Victorian lab at the University of Melbourne after her PhD candidature. She has joined the Center for Medical Research at the University of Western Australia as a bioinformatics research fellow since 2015. She was a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with funds awarded from the Australian Mathematics Society (AustMS). Her research interests is in the field of mathematical biology, in particular genomic selection and risk prediction models.
