Grant Morahan

Grant Morahan has a doctorate from Melbourne University and worked as a Fogarty Fellow at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla. He led a research team at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute working on the genetics of complex diseases and researching immunological tolerance. In 2005, he was appointed the foundation Professor of Diabetes Research and the Director of the Centre for Diabetes Research at the University of Western Australia.
His research has included genetics of type 1 diabetes in humans and in animal models; genetics of other complex traits from asthma to cerebral malaria; and characterization of mechanisms of immune tolerance. This work has resulted in over 190 publications.
