Dr Veronika Bandara is a postdoctoral research scientist in the Molecular Immunology Laboratory at the University of Adelaide. She was awarded her PhD from Flinders University in 2014. Her main interest is in developing novel immunotherapies for solid tumours, based on the chimeric antigen receptor technology. Dr Bandara played a major role in developing and pre-clinical testing of LGR5 targeting CAR-T cell immunotherapy for colorectal cancer, now entering a Phase 1 clinical trial. She is planning to test the LGR5 CAR-T cells against other cancer types including ovarian cancer.
